Embossed Vellum Fancy Favor box

This little gift box was inspired by Tami White whose original can be seen here:

I changed mine a little by using Vellum cardstock which turns white when you emboss it.
Cut your Vellum cardstock to 5 1/2" x 11" and die cut it with the Fancy Favors die. Normally you would use 12" cardstock but it still works with the 11", the little tab on the end is just shorter (I think the shorter tab works better anyway :-).
After the cardstock is die cut, I embossed it with the Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder. You want to position the die cut piece so the edges of the box line up with the images on the embossing folder:
The bottom tabs will poke out but everything will still go through the Big Shot just fine.

When you're embossing the part that has the tab, you need to fold the tab in so that the back and side of the box will fit inside the embossing folder. This way, all sides of the box are embossed :-) (You can click on the pictures to enlarge for more detail)
Something to keep in mind: When embossing the Vellum cardstock, you may need to use the Multi-Purpose Platform without the tabs. I found it I used Tab #2, then parts of the embossed images actually cut through, especially when folding on the edges to put the box together. So I used the Multi-Purpose platform without the tabs but added a sheet of copy paper as a shim and it worked great :-)

Gift Bags

Here are some gift bag ideas for my Open House this week:

This is a Kraft paper bag decorated with the Vintage Ornaments I & II stencils (found in the Decor Elements catalog). Paper Piercing take the place of ribbon for the ornaments (you can click on the photo for a larger image)

The White Organza ribbon is dyed with the Soft Suede ink refill. Just mix the ink refill with water (about 1/2 and 1/2?) in a small cup, add your ribbon and let soak for a minute or two. As I pulled the ribbon out, I ran it between my fingers to squeeze the excess mixture out. Then I hand it outside on my lemon tree to dry :-)

This paper bag is made with 2 sheets of Night & Day Specialty paper. The flower is made using the Delightful Decorations ornament stamped in Pink Passion and Green Galore. Punch out with the Ornament Punch and arrange as shown. I used Mini Glue dots to keep the petals and leaves where I wanted them. Add the black grommet in the middle (smush the prongs flat with the bone folder, adhere a 3/4" white circle with glue dots, add Crystal Effects and glitter to the middle). The flower is added with Dimensionals. Black Grosgrain ribbon (5/8") is added with white brads to the sides and a bow is tied at the top.

Little bag is made with 2 pieces of 6" x 8" pieces of Merry Moments DSP. You can see how I add ribbon to the sides of my bags with this sample.

Tri Shutter card

I've seen some beautiful "tri shutter" cards and finally got to make one :-) There's a great tutorial at http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/trishuttercard/. They use a different tool for scoring but I did just fine with my Fiskars paper trimmer and stylus.

This is how it looks closed, still fits in a regular envelope.

This is the card opened. Please excuse my fingers in the middle. I had to hold it in the last little bit of sunlight that was left :-)

Dasher with Glitter

These cards were cased with the slightest of changes from Amy Celona whose original can be seen here:

http://ustamp4fun.com/dashing-dasher-christmas-card/

Amy also provides a project list and details all the supplies needed plus the measurements for cutting :-)

This card added some extra glitter with the 2-way glue pen to the embossed part at the top.

This card used more glitter around the dasher image and on the snow below him.
