Framed Vintage Hearts

Here's a shadowbox frame decorated with an assortment of vintage type hearts:

(This project was inspired by fellow SU! Demonstrator Connie Babbert)

The background is a 12 x 12 sheet of Textured Very Vanilla cardstock. All of the hearts are die-cut with the new "Framelits" Hearts Collection (in the Occasions Mini Catalog) and "Everyday Enchantment" Designer Series Paper (from the upcoming Sale-a-bration Mini Catalog). The edges are sponged with Soft Suede ink and some are popped up with Dimensionals. Crochet Ribbon, Pearls and Antique Brads add to the vintage feel. The "Love" sentiment is die-cut with the Big Shot and alphabet dies. I glued the DSP to some chipboard before I die-cut them. The edges are also sponged with Soft Suede ink. I added a cute little bow tied with Pear Pizzazz and Pool Party Seam Binding.

New "Blossom Builders" Designer Printed Kit

The new Occasions Mini catalog has a TON of new products including the "Blossom Builders" Designer Printed Kit:

The kit includes 2 sheets of printed flowers (12 x 12) and a sheet of 60 Rhinestones (30 each of two sizes). I needed a bunch of thank you cards and had a lot of fun making them using the printed flowers. I actually forgot the kit came with pink rhinestones and used our regular clear ones on these samples. I kept the cards clean and simple and without layers. The base of each card is Whisper White cardstock cut to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and folded in 1/2. I was pretty generous with the Dimensionals and all the different layers are popped up. I used the "Thank You Kindly" set for the greeting.

possible ideas for January Stamp Camp

I'm sorry for the long delay in posting. I try to keep my blog "all business" but feel I should at least explain that I have been dealing with the declining health of a family member for the last several months. I'd like to apologize if any emails went unanswered (I know of at least one) and would ask that you please resend any email that I don't reply to by the next day. I think part of my problem is checking emails on my phone and not marking them as "unread" so I can reply later when I get home. Technology is not always my friend it seems :-(

Anyhow, I'm back home and took some time yesterday to play with some ideas for my January Stamp Camp:

I really love the "Up, Up & Away" stamp set and thought pink clouds and hills would work for Valentine's Day :-) This is a pretty simple card but I think it's very sweet with the embossed hills and little red bow.

more projects for Holiday Gift Packaging Class

The Stocking die makes a great gift card holder and it's easy to attach the gift card to a candy cane with Mini Glue Dots. The trim pieces are embossed with the Petals-a-plenty Embossing folder.

Cute little gift box made from the Matchbox die and "Holly Berry Bouquet" Designer Series Paper.

I LOVE these little Kraft boxes! Just add some "Letters to Santa" Designer Series Paper and a pretty bow tied with the Cherry Cobbler 1 1/4" Striped ribbon.

This box is made with the Fancy Favor Box die. Just die-cut one box with cardstock and the other with designer series paper. Assemble both boxes with Sticky Strip and slide the cardstock one inside the DSP one. Finish off with a bow tied with White Satin ribbon and a cute tag accented with Rhinestones :-).

Gift Card Holder

Here's a project inspired by Sandra Murphy whose original can be seen at http://sandieskorner.com/2011/11/28/christmas-gift-card-idea-and-stampin-ups-on-line-extravaganza-continues.

I cut the Cherry Cobbler cardstock to 4 1/4" x 10 1/8" and scored at 4 1/4" and
8 1/2" on the long side. The "Frostwood Lodge" DSP is cut to 4" x 4" and
layered on the front and inside. The DSP on the top flap is cut to 4 1/4" x 1
5/8". The snowflakes are die-cut with Whisper White cardstock and the "Northern
Frost" die. The greeting from "Perfect Punches" is stamped in Cherry Cobbler on
Whisper White and punched with the smaller Scallop Circle punch.

You can see the little magnet disc on the top flap and under the snowflake to
keep it closed.

The Word Window punch is punched twice to get a long enough opening for the gift
card. Whisper White cardstock is 4" x 4" for the greeting on the inside.

This is one of the projects for my Gift Packaging class. I'll post the other ones tomorrow :-)

This little treat is from my downline, Kim Magazu and it uses the Two Tags Die. The turkey is created with the Owl punch (just cut the ears off) and the 5-Petal Flower punch for the tail feathers.

Christie Gilcrest made a bunch of these for her stamping friends and I got one too! The box is the Fancy Favor die and the turkey is made from a variety of punches (circles, scallop circles, Boho Blossoms for the feet and gobble part :-) It came filled with chocolates but I ate most of them immediately!

This last one is from Chris Frazee and I think she said she printed the images from My Digital Studio - smart, huh?

Sparkly Christmas Wreath

I saw a similar wreath using the red and white papers from the Holly Berry Bouquet and another using the Snowflake die and decided to combine both ideas with the addition of the Silver and Red Glimmer papers and a variety of punches:

The Glimmer Paper is a little expensive so I die-cut out the centers to use for the other embellishments :-)

Turkey Nugget :-)

Saw a similar project from LeeAnn Greff and came up with this:

I used two different sized Scallop Circle punches, punched from More Mustard and Pumpkin Pie cardstock. Cut off about 4 scallops from each and stick them together with Dimensionals. Add to the back end of a Hersheys Nugget with Mini Glue Dots. Wrap the nugget with a 1" x 3" sleeve of Designer Series Paper. Use 1 3/8" Circle punch for the body and 1" Circle punch for the head (from Textured Soft Suede cardstock). A small heart is punched form Cherry Cobbler cardstock for the gobbler thingy and wiggly eyes for the face. The nose is an individual scallop cut down till it looks like a nose. Cute, huh?

Holly Berry Bouquet Wreath

This one uses the "Holly Berry Bouquet" Designer Series Paper, coordinating buttons, Antique Brads, and lots and lots of Pearls :-)

How to make a "lollie" for the wreath

Here's a brief explanation of how to make a "lollie" as seen in the Spice Cake wreath:

Take a cardstock strip (above is 1 1/2" x 11") and score every 1/2"

Make 2 of the strips and fold them back and forth to get the pleats (remember the fans we made in Elementary School?)

Glue the two strips together

Glue the ends together

Start to push the top towards the center

Keep pushing towards the center until it flattens

Keep holding this together until you get the scrap circle of cardstock with Hot Glue onto the center of the lollie

Be careful not to burn your fingers when you place the Hot Glue piece down on top of the center

This can be a little hot so be careful while holding the shape (push in toward the center) until the Hot Glue cools

and you're done! :-)

oh, almost forgot, add a blob of Hot Glue to the center on the front for good measure :-)

"Spice Cake" Wreaths

I finally got a chance to make this cute little "pleated paper" wreath similar to the one on page 6 of the Holiday Mini Catalog. Mine uses the "Spice Cake" Designer Series Paper, coordinating cardstock, Antique Brads, Striped Ribbon and the gigantic "Spice Cake" Designer Buttons. All that pleating was quick and easy with the new "Simply Scored" scoring tool :-)

The base is a chipboard wreath I found at my local craft store for a few dollars. The wreath above has leaves that are die cut and embossed and the one below does not. I think I prefer the one with leaves :-)

I also used a variety of dies and punches for the different sizes in circles. A TON of Pearls are added to some of the scallops too :-)

I really LOVE Halloween projects - just wish October was a longer month! :-) Here's the make-n-take we had for the Ronald McDonald House kids last Saturday:

The "Frightful Sight" DSP is die-cut with the Scallop Envelope die. I used our Tombow Multi-purpose Adhesive to adhere the sides and left the envelope flap up. The greeting is stamped in Black Stazon on Whisper White cardstock and punched with the Modern Label punch.

The Ronald McDonald House in Palo Alto is looking for new Halloween Costumes for the kids, especially the teens. Please contact them if you are able to donate:

I found this long and shallow glass dish and knew it was perfect for "Booooooo!" decal from the "Frightful Sight" Decor Elements. It honestly took about 15 seconds from start to finish :-)

Halloween Class projects

Here are the projects for an upcoming Halloween Treats Class:

A "Twisty Treat" (aka sour cream container :-) I cut my "Frightful Sight" DSP to 4" x 6" and use Sticky Strip to adhere it. I don't seat the top as the crimping and 1/8" Black Taffeta ribbon keep it closed. The "eek!" is from "Spooky Bingo Bits" and is punched with the 1" Square punch and layered to Basic Black cardstock punched with the Postage Stamp punch.

Matchbox die boxes with wrapped Hershey Nuggets. The base of the box is Cajun Craze and the top is Basic Black wrapped with "Frightful Sight" DSP. The greeting is from the "Warmest Wishes" hostess set and is punched with the Modern Label punch.

Most of the nuggets are wrapped with the DSP but one is stamped with the "It's a Wrap Holidays" stamp set.

Petite Pocket die pouch. I left the top open and added a strip of contrasting DSP as a belly band. The little skull is from "Spooky Bingo Bits" and the greeting is from "Teeny Tiny Wishes".

Itty Bitty Box treat with wrapped Ghirardelli Squares. This belly bank slips off and the box opens to reveal a couple of wrapped chocolates :-)

Toppers for the new 1"x8" Cellophane Bags. You can also use loose candies and sweets for these treats but I kept to the packaged treats for the class. The toppers are easy to create and sized perfectly for the "Spooky Bingo Bits" images.

"Christmas Lane" Simply Scrappin' Kit Cards Class

Here are the projects for an upcoming class in October. There are 16 cards made using half of the "Christmas Lane" Simply Scrappin' Kit. The textured cardstock in the kit is cut to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and is the base to the Whisper White cardstock (provided but not part of the simply scrappin' kit) which measures 4" x 5 1/4" folded. The class is $32 and includes $28 in supplies.

This gift bag is provided to hold the 16 cards and is decorated with self-adhesive die-cut candy canes and Cherry Cobbler Polka Dot Ribbon.

This card uses the Ornament Punch and 1/8" Old Olive Taffeta ribbon.

This card uses the Perfect Pennants die and Petals-a-plenty Embossing folder to create the perfect holiday tree :-)

Founders Circle Trip

Today is the last day of my trip to St. George, Utah. It was wonderful to meet some new friends and visit with some old ones. Here are a few pics:

The door to our rooms were decorated with our names

Our first night included a welcome dinner and my table mates were all part of "The Sugar Cubes" :-)

We each received a lovely tea cup and saucer filled with roses and our name tag

I met Beth Ann at our first Founders Circle trip two years ago and look forward to seeing her at all the Stampin' Up! events

The "Gathering Place" had lots of yummy baked treats and candies for us

We also had a Pajama Party/Business Share/Card Swap night

I found a lovely card from Kyla Scoggins at http://paperkrazy.blogspot.com/2011/09/triple-treat-flower.html and changed a few things and ended up with this variation:

"Pool Party" is my new favorite color and coordinates withe the "Spice Cake" Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Mini catalog. The main image is the "Triple Treat Flower" and is stamped with Versamark on More Mustard and Pool Party cardstocks. Both images are embossed with Clear Embossing Powder and the full flower is punched with the "Fancy Flower" punch and the smaller flower is punched withe the 5 Petal Flower punch. The front of the card is embossed with the Big Shot and Framed Tulips Embossing Folder.

Envelope Scrapbook project

I saw a wonderful demonstration by Dawn Olchefske for these really cute scrabooks made with our envelopes. You can see hers at http://dostamping.typepad.com/dostamping_with_dawn/2009/04/envelope-scrapbook-good-morning-sunshine-dsp.html. I finally got time to make one using 8 medium Whisper White Envelopes and the Timeless Portrait Designer Series Paper and came up with this:

This is the cover which is made with scrap chipboard (the backing from our Designer Series Papers) and covered with DSP (it's kinda wrapped so the paper folds over the edges and you have a clean look on the inside too).

These are pages 1, 2 and 3. The little tabs pull out cardstock from the open end of the envelopes. I sealed shut every other envelope and just left 4 open ones.

Here's what it looks like opened all the way. (You can see why I alternated the open envelopes so when it's displayed like this, the tabs don't get in the way)

Some SUPER sweet customers gave me some really nice flowers and cards for my birthday:

These beautiful roses are from Dotte and as pretty as they are, they smell even better! They opened up almost immediately and I couldn't bear to part with them when the petals began to fall. So I saved the petals and am going to try to make potpourri :-) While waiting for them to dry, they still smell so wonderful!

I got my Holiday Mini pre-order yesterday and got to make a couple of these little stockings:

There's a new Stocking die and some fun plaid designer series paper. These stockings are large enough to hold some treats or a gift card (or both :-). The first stocking has the embossed trim pieces and both of them have some tissue stuffed into the toe to fluff them up a bit. Cute, huh?

Stamp Camp project redo

I ended up changing one of the projects for the stamp camp this week:

I changed the Chocolate Chip ink and cardstock to Soft Suede, the Island Indigo bird to Peach Parfait and decided to emboss the background with the new Stripes Embossing Folder. It's hard for me to do a plain background and I like the stripes for this card. Kind of reminds me of a bird cage but our happy little guy is on the outside :-)

I've seen these really cute Butterfly Easel cards online and found a free (!) tutorial at: http://www.parchmentpaperie.com/2011/04/butterfly-easel-card-tutorial.html. Here's what I came up with for a recent class:

This is just a card front but you could easily make it into a full card. The above photo shows the butterfly propped open with Pearls. I haven't quite figured it out to keep the butterfly held back in place, it keeps popping up just a bit but still looks cute :-)

Prettiest card ever!

Ok, you guys have probably never heard me squeal before but I'm squealing! :-) Is this not the prettiest card ever?! I saw the original by Kelly Acheson at http://astampabove.typepad.com/my-blog/2011/04/elegant-double-embossing-sneak-peek.html and couldn't wait to case it:

I changed it just ever so slightly but this is seriously the prettiest card I've made in a long time - I'm honestly giddy over this card :-)
I brayered Not Quite Navy ink across the smooth side of the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder before running it through the Big Shot. The images are stamped in Versamark on Whisper White cardstock. I used a spoon to pour the Gold Embossing Powder over just certain parts of the Versamarked images then tapped off the excess powder. Then I poured the Silver Embossing Powder over the entire piece (the Silver EP will only stick to the exposed Versamark) and tapped off the excess. Heat set to melt the powders. Use a Stampin' Sponge to rub on the different color inks: Not Quite Navy, Always Artichoke, Soft Suede. Use a tissue to remove any excess ink from the embossed images. The rest is pretty easy to figure out but please let me know if you have any questions :-)

Playful Polka Dots SSK cards

Here are the samples for an upcoming class in May. 16 cards are created using 1/2 of the "Playful Polka Dots" Simply Scrappin' Kit. The textured cardstock is cut to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and the folded Whisper White cardstock is layered on top. The folded Whisper White cardstock measures 4" x 5 1/4" when folded. Some are cut to 4" x 10 1/2" and folded at 5 1/4" and some are cut to 5 1/4" x 8" and folded at 4". Dimensionals are added to the self-adhesive die-cuts but before removing the backs to the dimensionals, dust the sticky part of the die-cut with the Embossing Buddy.

This card uses the stem from "Fabulous Florets" (from the Summer Mini catalog) in Old Olive ink.

This cardfront is embossed with the Tulip Embossing Folder and the leaves are punched with the Build-a-Blossom punch and scrap textured Old Olive Cardstock.

The greetings on the card above and below is from the "Happy Greetings" set from the Occasions Mini catalog and is punched with the Decorative Label punch.

This greeting is from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" set and the bottom edge of the cardfront is punched with the Eyelet Border punch.

The greeting is from the "Happy Greetings" set from the Summer Mini and is punched with the Wide Oval punch.

The greeting is from "Curly & Cute"

The greeting on the card above and below is from the "Perfect Punches" stamp set and is punched with the Wide Oval Punch.

This card uses the "Fun Flowers" die and the background is created using the Bargello technique.

The Scallop Ribbon Border Punch adds the decorative trim.

This card uses the Create a Cupcake set and coordinating punch.

This card uses the "Fundamentals" stamp set and is punched with the Modern Label punch.

Scallop Circle dress and directions

It's been a while since I made some of these cute dress cards so I thought the "Greenhouse Gala" DSP would be perfect for a party dress:

The front of the cardstock is embossed with the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder and Pear Pizzazz cardstock. The dress is die-cut with "Greenhouse Gala"DSP and Vellum Cardstock (also die-cut the same way, just cut in half at the waist and layer the top and bottom pieces so they peek out a little). The belt is Pear Pizzazz ribbon and Pearls are added to the bottom scallops. The greeting from Perfect Punches is stamped in Peach Parfait on Whisper White cardstock and punched with the Wide Oval punch. Everything is popped up with Dimensionals.

Here's the dress pattern:

Start by die-cutting the Scallop Circle die with scrap chip board. I drew in the measurements after I sketched out the first dress since some people are more comfortable with exact numbers :-) All you really need to do is sketch out a dress form with 4 scallops at the top and 8 at the bottom.
Once you cut one side off, you can actually flip that piece over to the other side so the dress is very symmetrical
.
Once you have your dress form, simply cut your cardstock to 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" and die-cut from the Scallop Circle die. You don't need to cut the whole scallop circle since the side parts are not used so that will save you a little paper :-)

I just folded my flaps down and added a handle. I also adhered my DSP after the box was put together and creased the edges as I went around.
